The one thing that is stored
A single entry in your browser’s local storage, written only if you use the theme control:

It contains no identifier, is never transmitted anywhere, and is read only by the script that sets the theme before the page paints. If you never touch the theme control, nothing is written at all.
Why there is no consent banner
Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC, as amended by 2009/136/EC) requires consent before storing information on a user’s device, with an exemption for storage that is strictly necessary to provide a service the user explicitly requested. A key that records the display mode you just asked for falls squarely inside that exemption, as the European Data Protection Board’s guidance on the exemptions treats user-interface customisation chosen by the user.
Everything else that would normally trigger a banner is absent: there is no advertising, no cross-site measurement, no social embed, no tag manager and no identifier of any kind. A banner asking permission for nothing would be a dark pattern, not compliance.
Third parties
There are none. No analytics or measurement service is loaded — not a cookieless one either. No advertising, no tag manager, no embedded video, no comment widget, no share-button script and no frames.
Fonts are served from this site’s own origin: no Google Fonts, no CDN. Loading a page here makes no request to any host but the one that served it, which you can confirm in your browser’s network panel.
The share buttons under an entry are ordinary links. They load nothing — no script, no image, no frame — and reach those services only if you click one.
Server logs are not cookies
Delivering a page still means an HTTP request reaches a server, and that request carries an IP address. That is not storage on your device and is not covered by this page; it is covered by section 2.1 of the Privacy Policy.
Changes
If this site ever sets a cookie, this page will say so before it does, and the change will carry the date at the top. Until then the statement at the top is the whole policy.
